With the help of the Save-A-Pet staff and volunteers, he is now healthy, loves life, and gives his favorite people plenty of kisses.

Floyd is a strong boy who loves to play with other dogs; but he does play rough, so he may be too exuberant for some. Floyd sits on command and looks forward to a home where he’ll get daily exercise and continue his training.        Cricket is a gentle and affectionate eight-year-old, 50-pound, Bulldog looking for a loving home. She’s a typical Bulldog, laid back, well-behaved in the home, and very quiet.

Cricket came into rescue - about seven months ago - 20 pounds overweight. Her diligent foster mom, has worked hard since November using diet and exercise to get Cricket down to her ideal weight. These photos were taken last November when I first met Cricket. She’s looking much more athletic now. Cricket loves going on walks and is great on leash. She is okay with other dogs during meet and greets on leash … but she doesn’t like to share her home with other dogs. She does love cats though!

Sadly, Cricket suffers from some urinary incontinence, but she still wears a diaper around the house. Some days she can go six hours, other days only an hour …

Cricket is otherwise healthy, spayed, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. To meet and possibly adopt Cricket, please contact her foster mom Samantha at harrisam15@yahoo.com or773-615-9864. Cricket’s adoption fee of $300 benefits the many rescued dogs of Animal Adoption Associates.

Killian Red  is a friendly, well-mannered, and fun, 50-pound, seven-year-old Pit Bull Terrier or mix looking for a loving home. When his human got engaged, his wife-to-be said it was her or the dog … so while sobbing, he dropped Killian off at Midwest Rescue.

It was hard on both of them at first ... as Killian was accustomed to sleeping in bed with his dad. Killian sits on command, takes treats gently from your fingers, gives kisses, is housebroken and crate-trained. He is living in a foster home where he has proven himself great with children. He is looking for a home as the one and only pet.

Killian is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. To meet and possibly adopt him, please fill out an adoption application at http://www.midwestrescueabull.org/adoption/application.html

Keesha and Addie are absolutely adorable, playful, energetic, active, well-socialized, extremely friendly, and loving, 10-week-old, 10-pound, female Shar Pei/Pit Bull puppies looking for a loving home.

Keesha and Addie are cuddly, give kisses, and love people. They play well with other dogs and are looking for a home where someone has the time and energy to train and housebreak a tiny puppy. They will probably grow to be a 50 to 60 pound adult dogs, so training while they are young will give you a great dog for life.

These little girls are so fun, and fascinated by everything they see … during our photo shoot, they ran off with my pen, and even tried to walk off with my camera, and pant leg.

These girls are very healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and de-wormed. Their adoption fee of $250 each benefits the rescued dogs of the We Luv Paws Shar Pei Rescue group. To meet and possibly adopt either of these girls please contact Jen at peachesash@aol.com or 630-881-8091.

Denver is a very handsome, muscular, energetic and loving 10-month-old, 70-pound male brindle and white Am Staff-mix looking for a loving home. Denver was found as a stray in Canton, Illinois, and did his time at Fulton County before being taken into rescue.

Denver LOVES other dogs … ignores the cats in his foster home, and is great with people and best with children over 12 because of his energy level.

Denver needs a lot of exercise to be happy. He is currently in a foster home where his foster family is working on his manners. Denver still has a lot of puppy energy and enthusiasm – and he’s quite strong, so he’s looking for a special experienced dog-lover with the time and energy to train Denver.

Denver is housebroken, crate-trained, knows the command sit and is looking forward to learning much more. He is extremely healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-free and on preventative, and treated for fleas and worms.

To meet and possibly adopt Denver, please contact his rescuer Melia at melia88@comcast.net or 708-224-1900. His adoption donation of $200 benefits rescued pets.

Elliott is a very handsome, energetic and loving 10-month-old, 65-pound male Black Labrador Retriever-mix looking for a loving home.

Elliott was found as a starving stray in Gary, Indiana. It was clear he had never received any training before, but he had such a fun, enthusiastic personality that he was taken home by a rescuer. Elliott LOVES other dogs … and people, but, his lack of manners was pretty dismaying.

So, Elliott was sent to prison ... The Prison Tails program, at the Westville Correctional Facility in Indiana, helps train men and dogs to be better members of society. It’s really amazing. Dogs and inmates are partnered 24 hours a day for a month. Dogs learn basic obedience through daily repetition and positive reinforcement. The inmates learn values that many of us take for granted, and receive a sense of accomplishment with each dog that they train.

Volunteers from Mixed Up Mutts visit WCF weekly for training sessions. And there is a full-time staff member on-site dedicated to overseeing the program.

So, Elliott received his AKC Canine Good Citizen certification in jail. Nicknamed “Big Silly” by the inmates, Elliott still has a lot of clumsy puppy energy and enthusiasm so he’s looking for a special experienced dog-lover with the time and energy to reinforce all that he has learned … and encourage him to learn even more. Elliott will be best in a home with children over the age of 12.

Elliott is housebroken, crate-trained, knows the commands sit, down, stay, speak, come, and roll-over. He is so responsive and attentive to people, and he loves treats, with a little more work and daily exercise, he will be a dog of a lifetime. He is extremely healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-free and on preventative, and treated for fleas and worms.

To meet and possibly adopt Elliott, please contact his rescuer Melia at melia88@comcast.net or 708-224-1900. His adoption donation of $200 benefits rescued pets.

Gracie is a gentle, playful and spry eight-year-old, 55-pound Pit Bull Terrier-mix looking for a loving home.

This glossy brindle girl was found as a stray in Morton Grove, Illinois. She is sweet, loving, and gives kisses to anyone who will accept them. She is well-behaved in the home, crate-trained and housebroken. Her only flaw is that she barks at people. The funny thing is that it doesn't mean anything by it. Her foster mom calls her honey bunch. She reports that she plays beautifully with other dogs - including her blind dog.

Gracie is looking for a patient dog-lover to care for her and continue her training. Gracie is very healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. Her adoption fee of $150 benefits the rescued pets of Chicagoland Bully Breed Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt her please contact her foster mom Tammy at tv2@comcast.net or 847-274-9344.

Burgundy and Chestnut are a handsome pair of two-year-old, sweet, energetic, fun, affectionate, loving and playful Border Collie brothers waiting for the perfect home together at the Save-A-Pet Adoption Center in Grayslake, Illinois

When you see one, the other one is never very far away. Their brotherly bond to each other is so evident that the shelter decided to adopt them out as a pair. These boys would be ideal for an active person, family, or a couple that has the time and energy to train them and give them daily exercise - long walks, or runs would be fantastic. I believe them to be house-broken and crate-trained (with a little refresher course) because they were adopted as young pups, lived in a loving home for a year, and then returned to the shelter when the family decided they no longer had time for their dogs.

Burgundy and Chestnut are extremely healthy, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. To meet and possibly adopt them, please visit the Save-A-Pet adoption center in Grayslake, Illinois at 31664 North Fairfield Road.

To expedite the adoption, you can fill out an adoption application on-line at   http://www.save-a-pet-il.org

Their adoption fee of $150 for the pair benefits the many rescued dogs and cats of Save-A-Pet. If you have more questions about these dogs, please contact volunteer Dominique at 847-726-1257 or e-mailburgundysandchestnut@save-a-pet-il.org

Diesel loves people of all ages including children, and gets along with other dogs. He knows the commands sit, and give paw, and takes treats ever so gently from your fingers with his big poofy mouth.

Diesel was at a Michigan shelter, when We Luv Paws Shar Pei rescue heard about him … they drove and picked him up and he is currently living in a loving foster home.

Diesel is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. His adoption fee of $300 goes towards the rescued dogs of the We Luv Paws Shar Pei Rescue group.     Fletcher is an absolutely gorgeous, fun-loving, playful, friendly, energetic, bouncy, lovebug of a one-year-old, 36-pound, black and white Spaniel-mix looking for a loving home.

Found as a stray in Terre Haute, Indiana, Fletcher was chasing cars when he was brought to the humane society. When no one claimed him, he came to Chicago to find the home of his dreams. Fletcher is full of kisses and tail wags for everyone he meets. He enjoys meeting, greeting and playing with other dogs. He loves to go for walks, and explore the neighborhood.

Fletcher is house-trained and crate-trained. He rolls over for belly rubs, jumps in your lap for snuggling, and adores being the center of attention. He is looking for a home where he can get lots of loving, exercise, play fetch, and go to training classes.

Fletcher is extremely healthy, neutered, up-to-date on, de-wormed, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on preventative. His adoption fee of $200 benefits rescued pets.

To meet and possibly adopt Fletcher, feel free to contact me directly as he’s joined my household until he finds a new home of his own.

Wishbone is a seven-year-old Beagle/Lab-mix waiting for the perfect home at the Save-A-Pet adoption center. His perfect home would be as the only pet in an all-adult, dog-experienced household.

When he was only one-year-old, a dog-lover found him running loose in her parents’ neighborhood when she was home for Thanksgiving. He was found to be heartworm-positive at the time, and he was lucky to find a safe spot at the no-kill shelter Save-a-Pet where he would be cared for and loved by staff and volunteers for as long as he necessary. But, who would have thought that he’d still be there six years later?

Wishbone is completely housebroken and well-behaved in the home. No crate needed for this boy ... He hardly even barks unless there’s a good reason. He loves running in the yard, but is calm enough to be left alone in the home until he cheerfully greets his caregivers after work. He received basic obedience trainingand knows the commands: sit, no, come, okay, and paws, and is always up for learning more.

Wishbone loves belly-rubs and being brushed, although occasional grooming is all his low-maintenance coat needs to shine! He can be a little quirky, so, he’d thrive in a home where he can snuggle with adults, run in a fenced-in yard or receive walks far away from other pets and children. So he’s probably best in a single family home, versus a condo or apartment building.

Wishbone was recently diagnosed with diabetes, so he’s looking for a loving home –or even permanent foster home - where someone could give him insulin to keep him healthy. He is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormed, heartworm-free and micro-chipped. His adoption fee of $125 benefits the rescued pets at Save-a-Pet.

To meet and possibly adopt/foster Wishbone, please visit the adoption center in Grayslake. You can phone the shelter directly at 847-740-7788. To expedite the adoption/or foster, you can fill out an adoption application on-line at http://www.save-a-pet-il.org

If you would like to ask any questions about him, please e-mail or call Dominique atchat_chien@yahoo.com or 847-726-1257

Marci is a wonderful happy, energetic, athletic, gorgeous and extremely people-friendly 65-pound, two-year-old Pit Bull Terrier looking for a loving home.

Marci always has a big smile on her face and her tail is always wagging. She is well-trained, housebroken, and crate-trained. In fact, her foster mom even taught her to ring a bell to go outside.

Marci was orphaned at two weeks of age, so she didn’t have the benefit of a dog mom to show her how to communicate with other pooches. She was bottle fed by humans, so she loves all people including children.

Marci loves to walk around her foster home with a toy in her mouth, play in the yard or snuggle on the couch.

She’s looking for a home as the only pet, and with an experienced dog-lover. She would enjoy a fenced-in yard so he can run and play ball with her people. She is very healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. To meet and possibly adopt her, please fill out an adoption application athttp://www.midwestrescueabull.org/adoption/application.html

Phoebe is a beautiful, calm, quiet, and gentle, 14-year-old, 32-pound, Cattle Dog looking for a loving home.

Phoebe is fine with other dogs, cats and people of all ages. She’s looking for a soft bed and loving family to spend her golden years.

As Phoebe got older, her original family lost interest in her … first they moved her to live in the garage and then they dropped her off at the Terre Haute Humane Society in Indiana. She was then transferred to the We Luv Paws rescue group so she can live out her life in a home rather than a shelter cage.

Phoebe is housebroken and crate-trained although because of her age, she’ll need to go out more regularly. She has some arthritis, but is otherwise healthy, spayed, up-to-date on rabies, bordatella, and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped, de-wormed, treated with flea preventative, and heartworm-tested. Once outside in the yard, she loves running and going for long walks.

Aurora would love an all-adult home – without children or other dogs - perhaps with a dog-friendly cat or two as companions. To meet and possibly adopt Aurora, please visit the Save-A-Pet adoption center in Grayslake at 31664 N. Fairfield Road. You can phone the shelter directly at 847-740-7788. Gracey is accustomed to sleeping in bed with her human family and is an obedience school graduate. She is extremely healthy, spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on rabies, distemper and bordatella (kennel cough) vaccines. She is cuddly and loving, and at times thinks she is a lap dog.      Adam Heinz is a very friendly, happy, fun, spunky, affectionate, outgoing, active and athletic one-year-old, glossy 45-pound little Greyhound or Plott Hound-mix looking for a loving home.

Rescued from a high-kill shelter in Kentucky, Adam was lucky to have found a safe place with the Case 4 Paws rescue group in Chicago. This wonderful boy absolutely loves people, and adores other dogs.

Adam is living in a wonderful foster home with two other dogs and two cats and he does beautifully with everyone. He is playful with other dogs, loves to run, go for walks, and play with his toys. Adam already knows how to sit and lay down on command.

His foster mom says Adam is her shadow. She loves to cook, and he lies by her feet in the kitchen keeping her company. He is perfectly house-trained, crate-trained, and is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, de-wormed, heartworm-tested and on preventative.      Ranchero is a gentle, sensitive, sweet and shy six-year-old, 50-pound Shepherd/Shiba Inu-mix waiting for the perfect home.

This goofy boy just loves to play and run with the other dogs living in his fabulous foster home. Ranchero takes a little while to warm up to new people, but once he knows you, he is an extremely loving and loyal companion who gives kisses to his favorite people. Ranchero is housebroken and crate-trained.

Ranchero is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested and on monthly preventative. His adoption fee of $150 helps support rescued dogs. To meet and possibly adopt this beautiful dog, please contact Debbie at kruegerd@speakeasy.net or call 847-362-3056.

Saki is a tailwaggingly friendly, powerhouse of a 65-pound, five-year-old American Bulldog/ Pit Bull Terrier-mix. Saki lost her original home where her human was sent to prison. She was abandoned — without food, water, or shelter … and she was pregnant. All her puppies found loving homes; now it’s Saki’s turn.

Saki absolutely loves people. She didn’t have an easy start in life, but she has remained affectionate, loving, friendly and sweet. She knows how to sit on command and takes treats ever so gently from your fingers. Saki is housebroken and crate-trained. She loves toys, going for walks and hanging out with her favorite people.

Saki would be best in a family with children over the age of seven, and without other pets in the home. She’d love a home with a fenced-in yard so she can run and play with her people. Saki is very healthy, spayed, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested.

To meet and possibly adopt her, please fill out an adoption application at  http://www.midwestrescueabull.org/adoption/application.html

Priscilla is an animated, friendly, energetic, and loving three-year-old, 50-pound, female Black and Tan Coonhound looking for a loving home. This sweet girl gives kisses, and although Priscilla enjoys the company of men, she is especially fond of women.

Priscilla is crate-trained and housebroken. She is great with other dogs and especially adores puppies; she is best in a home without cats, and with children over the age of 12.

Priscilla has a strong, sweet and affectionate personality. She came into rescue from Southern Illinois with a litter of seven puppies. They have all found homes, now it’s Priscilla’s turn. She would be best with someone who has the time and energy to exercise her daily. She has the typical and beautiful hound bay, so she’s probably best in a home, rather than an apartment or condo where neighbors may complain.

To meet and possibly adopt Priscilla, please fill in an adoption application at http://www.ildoberescue.com and you can follow-up to ask questions or meet her by contacting Pam at orphandobe@ameritech.net   or 847-277-1082. Her adoption donation of $225 benefits the rescued pets of Illinois Doberman Plus Rescue.

Priscilla is extremely healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested, on preventative and treated for fleas and worms.

Flyer is a friendly and loving four to five-year-old, 76-pound, fawn Doberman Pinscher looking for a loving home. This sweet boy was found as a stray. He may have either Wobblers syndrome or cervical spondilytis. He has kind of a wobbly gait and neck pain – to help Flyer feel more comfortable, he wears a harness instead of a collar.

Flyer still runs and plays and is wonderful with other dogs, but not cats. No one knows what the future holds for Flyer - but for now he is a happy boy who enjoys being loved and cared for.

To meet and possibly adopt Flyer, please fill in an adoption application at http://www.ildoberescue.com and you can follow-up to ask questions with his foster mom Sandy at siouxland@comcast.net or Pam at orphandobe@ameritech.net or 847-277-1082. His adoption donation of $225 benefits the rescued pets of Illinois Doberman Plus Rescue.

Flyer is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped, heartworm-tested, on preventative and treated for fleas and worms.

Peaches is a beautiful, very happy, tailwaggingly friendly, playful and loving, nine-month-old, 26-pound, female Shar Pei-mix puppy looking for a loving home.

Sadly, little Peaches has diagnosed with a Luxating Patella which needs surgical repair … if you would like to donate towards her medical care, please contact Carol at weluvpawsilrescue@yahoo.com

Peaches loves people and gives kisses, loves her toys, and she loves other dogs but she plays pretty rough, so she’d need an equally sturdy playmate. Peaches is crate-trained and housebroken.

Peaches is energetic and would be best with someone who has time to train and exercise her. For that reason, she’d be best with children over the age of four.

She is spayed, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. Her adoption fee of $200 goes towards the rescued dogs of the We Luv Paws Shar Pei Rescue group. To meet and possibly adopt her, please e-mail Carol at weluvpawsilrescue@yahoo.com so she can send you an adoption application to fill out.

You can also contact her foster mom Jen if you have more questions about her personality at peachesash@aol.com or 630-553-7829. She is being fostered In Plano, Illinois.

Molly is an extremely well-trained, gentle, loving, affectionate and friendly, seven to eight-year-old, 55-pound fawn and white American Staffordshire Terrier looking for a new loving foster or permanent home.

Molly adores people including children, and craves attention and love from her humans. Her foster mom says despite her tough-looking exterior, she loves to lounge and snuggle on the sofa but she also loves being active. She loves to go for long walks and chase squirrels in the yard.

Molly is crate-trained, and housebroken. She knows the commands: sit, stay, down, roll over, and crawl. She is looking for a home preferably with a fenced in yard, and where there are no other pets.

Molly is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm-tested, and on preventative. To meet and possibly foster or adopt Molly, please contact Tina at tinasells@yahoo.com or 773-216-7355. Her adoption fee is $100 and includes all her vet records and everything you need to care for Molly.

Sheba is a very beautiful two to three-year-old, 42-pound shepherd/basenji-mix looking for a wonderful new home.

Sheba has what I would call a Jekyll and Hyde personality. Inside the home, she is a delight … playful, sweet, loving, cuddly, rolling over for belly rubs and giving lots of kisses. She sits on command, and takes treats gently. She is crate-trained and housebroken. However, on our walks or even in the yard, she is easily aroused …  scanning the horizon for other dogs … and reacting very badly… barking, bucking, and redirecting her aggression by biting the leash, or charging the fence.

So, she is looking for an extremely dog-experienced home, without other pets, with someone willing to work with Sheba to build her confidence, and continue to desensitize her to other dogs. She will never be dog-friendly, but she can certainly improve. In the meantime, when I walk her … I want to keep her and other people, and dogs safe … so I avoid other dogs, use a gentle leader head harness to better control her, and often times I have her wear a basket muzzle.

Sheba is extremely healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm-tested, and micro-chipped.

If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Sheba, please contact me directly.

Her adoption fee of $65 benefits rescued pets. And, because there are a lot of people working to find Sheba the best possible home with someone who will work with her … professional training will be included with her adoption.

Maxwell is a gentle, sweet, friendly, calm and affectionate four-year-old, 55-pound fawn Shar Pei looking for a loving home.

Maxwell may look like a Shar Pei, but he has the people-loving personality of happy-go-lucky Golden Retriever. He is happy to be your shadow, following you around and staying by your side.

Maxwell is house-trained - no crate needed - loves car rides, great on leash and loves other dogs - but not cats. As you can see in the photos, Max will beg on his hind legs for a treat. Maxwell would be fine in many different situations … in a house, condo or apartment.

Maxwell is extremely healthy, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped and free of heartworm.      Cisco is a handsome, incredibly sweet, friendly, and loving 18-month-old, 45-pound, male American Bulldog-mix looking for a loving home. Cisco is a very special dog, looking for a very special person … could it be you?

Sadly, Cisco was found over the winter as little more than skin and bones frozen to the ground in a Chicago backyard. His people had left him there to suffer without shelter, food and water. He had gnawed off his own leg to get free of the frostbite that had taken his leg. He then suffered through two surgeries to correct his less than perfect amputation skills.

He is such a lovable boy and great with people of all ages, including children. He is good with other dogs when introduced slowly and properly. He is perfectly happy with a cushy bed and a bone to chew. He didn't ask for what has happened to him, but he is asking for a loving home to live out his life as normally as possible. He would do best in a home without many stairs to climb, and he does not need long walks, just quick potty breaks. And, he may need a wheelchair when he gets older … right now he is strong and able to get around on his own three legs.

Cisco is otherwise very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines and heartworm-tested. His adoption fee of $150 goes towards the rescued dogs of Angel4Cause Rescue. To meet and possibly adopt him, please fill out an adoption application athttp://www.angel4causerescue.com/Volunteer.html

If you have further questions about Cisco, want to follow up on your application, or make a donation towards his care, please contact Pat at phangel3@aol.com or 708-715-8471. Cisco is being fostered in Burr Ridge, Illinois.

Wrigley is a gentle, friendly, happy, sweet, cuddly, fun, and handsome five-month-old, 30-pound, Shar Pei/Beagle/Shepherd-mix puppy looking for a loving home.

Wrigley is absolutely adorable; his tail is always wagging and he snuggles up, and gives lots of kisses. Wrigley knows how to sit on command, is crate-trained and working on perfecting his housebreaking. Wrigley loves people of all ages including children, and enjoys playing with other dogs – but he does play rough, so he’ll need a hardy canine playmate.

Wrigley is very healthy, neutered, de-wormed, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, and micro-chipped. His adoption fee of $250 goes towards the rescued dogs of the We Luv Paws Shar Pei Rescue group. To meet and possibly adopt him, please e-mail Carol at weluvpawsilrescue@yahoo.com so she can send you an adoption application to fill out.

Jasmine is a beautiful, playful, athletic, energetic, smart, sweet and loyal, three-year-old, 50-pound, Shepherd/Lab-mix looking for a loving all-adult dog-loving home. She is a fantastic running, walking, hiking and biking partner.

Jasmine is currently living in a wonderful foster home with a male Australian Shepherd who she gets along with beautifully … She gets along with most dogs when introduced properly, but she can be a bit bossy.

Jasmine greets people with a wagging tail and a smiling face. She is housebroken and crate-trained, knows a bunch of commands including sit, down, roll over, give paw, wait, and takes treats ever so gently from your fingers. She would do best with someone willing to continue her training with gentle positive reinforcement methods to help increase her confidence.

Jasmine bonds extremely closely with her people; she is very loyal and will be your friend for life. She dotes on his foster mom and her foster family, but she can be sometimes be distrustful of visitors, so she needs a dog-experienced family who can work with Jasmine to help her gain the confidence she lacks. She was rescued from a rural Ohio shelter, so it is unknown what neglect or abuse she suffered before she was lucky enough to be transferred to the rescue group.

To meet and possibly adopt Jasmine, please contact the rescue group at acaringplace@comcast.net or 630-375-7976. Her adoption donation of $200 benefits the rescued dogs of A Caring Place Humane Society.      Katie is a friendly, extremely playful, and fun 15-month-old, 47-pound Australian Cattle Dog-mix waiting for the perfect loving home.

Katie is housebroken and crate-trained. She loves people, adores playing with other dogs, and while curious, she appears fine with cats. Katie likes to hang out next to you on the couch, chew her toys and bones … and she actually talks and yodels. She is wonderful to walk on leash and great in the car.

Katie is full of kisses, tail wags, and love for everyone she meets. She already knows the sit command, and takes treats ever so gently from your fingers. Because she still has some playful puppy mouthiness, she would be best with older children, and with someone willing to continue her training.

Katie was probably hit by a car as a puppy, so when she came into rescue she needed knee surgery to remove a bone chip from her knee. She doesn’t let that slow her down at all ... she walks with a very slight limp, and plays happily and joyously like any other dog. She is healthy, spayed, de-wormed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested and on preventative. Her adoption donation of  $200 benefits the rescues ofChicago Canine Rescue.

Poco is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. His adoption fee of $300 goes towards the rescued dogs of the We LuvPaws Rescue group.        Nikki is a pretty and shy seven-year-old Ridgeback/Pit Bull-mix looking for a loving home as the one and only pet.

Nikki was raised at a food flavor testing facility in Kankakee, Illinois. She lived in a dog run and lacked socialization and training - along with about 200 other dogs and cats. When the company moved to St Charles, Missouri, they had the choice of re-homing, or euthanizing … Luckily a trainer came along willing to work with her, and try to re-home her. Nikki is now crate-trained and walks well on leash.

She has been working with a trainer since December to help adjust to life outside the testing facility. Although shy, she is doing well with people, and gets along with select dogs when properly introduced. Nikki is healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. She is looking for a home where someone has time to continue her training, give her plenty of exercise.

Corona is lucky to be living in a foster home with a dog trainer. She’s doing well with other dogs, but would do best in a home without cats, and with teenagers and adults. Corona is a calm and pleasant companion and occasionally gets the “zoomies” where she races around the yard and jumps up for joy. She loves to have her ears, head and belly rubbed, and she is passionate about being near people.

She walks nicely on leash, is extremely quiet in the home, and is learning all sorts of commands like off, leave it, wait, sit, and down. Corona is house-trained and crate-trained, healthy, spayed, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm-tested, treated for worms and fleas, and micro-chipped.

Brownie bonds extremely closely with his people; he is very loyal and will be your friend and guardian for life. He dotes on his foster mom and follows her everywhere she goes. He'll be an amazing, once in a lifetime dog for one lucky couple or family. Brownie is very well behaved in the home, non-destructive, crate trained and housebroken.       Addante is a gorgeous and friendly hunk of an 80-pound, five-year-old Mastiff/Pit Bull-mix looking for a loving home.

Addante is well-trained, and takes treats ever so gently from your fingers. He is already housebroken, and crate-trained.

When Addante came into rescue he had glaucoma in his left eye and because the folks at Midwest Rescue adore this guy and wanted to maintain his handsome looks, they chose to invest in an expensive surgery to get Addante  an "intraocular prosthesis." You can’t even tell that only one eye sees!

Having only one seeing eye doesn’t slow him down at all. He’s athletic, agile, loves toys, balls, going for walks, riding in the car, and hanging out with his favorite people. But, he is really a big couch potato who loves to walk around the house carrying his toys in his mouth.

Addante would be best in an all-adult household; teenagers are fine too. He’s looking for a home as the only pet - preferably with a fenced-in yard so he can run and play ball with his people. Addante is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm-tested. To meet and possibly adopt him, please fill out an adoption application athttp://www.midwestrescueabull.org/adoption/application.html

Baron is an energetic one-year-old, 15-pound red min pin who barks for your attention …  don’t know if he’s ever been on a leash before … with a little training and love this little guy will do beautifully as the only dog in the home.

Canela is an exotic-looking, happy and energetic, one-year-old, 50-pound, Catahoula Leopard Dog-mix with the softest coat you’ve ever felt. She is looking for a home where she can get the training and exercise all young dogs require.

Devin is a highly energetic, super sweet, seven-month-old cattle dog-mix puppy who knows the commands sit and down and takes treats gently from your fingers.

Flower is a 50-pound, seven-year-old shepherd-mix who was found as a stray. She was obviously living with a family as he is trained in the commands sit and down … I’d guess she’s probably housetrained too.

Kobi is a very sweet, one-year-old, 55-pound, male lab/shepherd-mix who knows how to sit on command. How can you possibly resist those warm brown eyes? Kobi came in to the shelter with a collar embedded in his neck … as if someone put a collar on him as a puppy and then forgot all bout him.

Micah is my idea of the perfect family dog. This sweetie pie of a 10-month-old black Labrador retriever-mix already knows how to sit and takes treats very gently from your fingers. She was found as a stray and will probably be about 55 pounds when full grown.

Millie is a very gentle, sweet and loving 25-pound, one-year-old female cocker spaniel mix who doesn’t know any formal commands yet.

Pappy is an adorable and sweet one-year-old male Pappillon-mix.

PeeWee is a handsome, sweet and shy three-year-old male Min Pin who doesn’t appear to know any formal commands yet. Doesn’t he look like Homer Simpson’s dog Santa’s Little Helper?

Chaplain is a shy and gentle, eight-month-old Dober/Shepherd-mix who doesn’t appear to know any commands yet.

Doris is a beautiful and sweet four-year-old, 45-pound, black and tan shepherd-mix who is shy and gentle.

Ginger is a sweet and gentle four-year-old 45-pound Chow/Shar Pei/Shepherd-mix who was found as a stray, but already knows how to sit on command.

Lilly is an active and happy six-month-old Shepherd-mix puppy who walks well on leash, and according to one volunteer … is a very good kisser.

Lucinda is a beautiful, shy and gentle 45-pound, one-year-old, Foxhound-mix who doesn’t appear to have any formal training in commands yet.

Lukey is a 65-pound, four-year-old male Black Labrador Retriever mix who is full of smiles and tail wags. He is beautifully trained to sit and down on command; he also takes treats very gently from your fingers. He may jump up on you at first in an enthusiastic manner … but this is a very nice dog.

Olivia is a sweet and gentle, two-year-old, 65-pound, Boxer/American Bulldog with a coat that feels as soft as velour. She knows the commands sit and down and takes treats very gently from your fingers. All she needs is a great home and some lessons on walking nicely on leash.

Patty is an adorable and tiny five-year-old Pomeranian-mix who dances on her hind legs for treats. She’s looking for an all-adult home where she can be treated like the princess that she already knows she is.

Peanut is an energetic four-year-old, 25 pound, brown and white male Fox Terrier or JRT-mix. Peanut already knows the sit and down commands and takes treats nicely.

Amber is a sweet and cuddly, one-year-old tri-color female Pomeranian/Eskimo-mix who doesn’t know any formal commands yet, but she does take treats gently. She was found as a stray in Chicago.

Dino is a five-month-old happy and wiggly white and tan pit-mix puppy who is full of tail wags and kisses. He’s looking for someone who can match his abundant energy, to give him exercise and training.

Boogie is a very skinny three-year-old black Labrador retriever-mix who already knows the commands sit and down and takes treats gently from your fingers. Boogie was found as a stray and is a little shy at first, but he is a very nice sweet boy. He would probably be best in a home without cats.

Coco is a bouncy, active, high-energy, wiggly and silly 10-month-old, male Chesapeake Bay Retriever-mix is full of tail wags and wet kisses. Coco loves toys and balls and already knows the commands sit and down. He will probably grow to be about 50 pounds as an adult.

Midnight is a one-year-old 55-pound black Labrador retriever/basenji-mix with a curlie-q tail. He was relinquished to the shelter by his human. Midnight knows the commands sit and down.

Peaches is a well-mannered, active 65-pound, seven-year-old, female pit-mix who knows the commands sit and down and takes treats gently. She also walks well on leash and appears to be housebroken.
